Days begin with a private guide and a thermos of coca tea, heading for lagoons where flamingos stand in mirror-still water. Afternoons are for the pool, the hammam and a long, slow siesta.

At night, the lodge’s resident astronomer opens the roof of the observatory. Without a single city light for hundreds of kilometres, the Milky Way casts shadows.
